Changing drives from FarManager WINSCP sftp client

I inherited a server running WinSSHD and I have the following problem from the WinSCP Far plugin. I cannot reproduce the problem from putty sftp client. I am running WinSSHD 5.19.

The server has 2 drives c: and d:. In FAR, I can change drives by typing cd /d/ or cd /d/. I can go from d: to c: by typing cd /c, but cd /d does not work. However if I am on the c drive and type cd /d from inside psftp.exe it works.

I understand its might be client related. I will also note that a recent upgrade from 5.12 to 5.19 fixed a similar problem. It used to be that if I was somewhere on the c: drive and I types cd /d/something it would nto work. I would have to issues one cd command to change drives (cd /d) and then another to chage folders (cd something).

Hello Justin,

thank you for reporting this issue.

I will ask my colleague to test the setup you describe to see if the issue could be worked around by having WinSSHD send a different sort of response to the client.

Thank you. Let me know if you need any troubleshooting assistance, or remove access to our setup.

Hello Justin,

could you please provide WinSSHD trace logs regarding this problem.

This is what I would like you do do:

1) In WinSSHD Control Panel, Open easy settings and Enable trace logging.

2) Connect with WinSCP FAR, reproduce the problem and then please send me your WinSCP FAR instructions together with the associated WinSSHD trace log events. (To see WinSSHD logs click Open log folder viewer in WinSSHD Control Panel).

You can either post trace logs here, or you can send them to me directly by clicking mail icon next to my name. Feel free to edit any information that you may find sensitive (e.g. IPs, usernames).

3) Disable trace logging.

Thanks in advance!

Session thread 1158 for Windows account 'DOMAIN\user' from

Hi Justin,

as I've explained privately, Far Manager WinSCP fails internally when "cd /d" is being issued. There is nothing we can do on WinSSHD to fix it - nothing is being requested from WinSSHD when executing that command.

On the other hand, WinSSHD has an unrelated problem with symbolic link resolving which we will address in the next WinSSHD release.

Thanks again!
